Kevin Armattoe joins africon as a Business Analyst in Côte d’Ivoire.

2022 has been a year of growth in africon, and we are delighted to expand our team and offices all over the world. Kevin Armattoe joins africon as a Business Analyst in Côte d’Ivoire. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Project and Organization Management from the Jesuit University/ CERAP in Côte d’Ivoire.

Mr. Armattoe was a Project Manager Assistant in a start-up incubator where he managed and supported various acceleration programs and companies.

“It is a great opportunity to be part of the africon team because it will help me share my learnings and bridge potentials for Africa. I look forward to implementing projects successfully in the continent,” says Kevin.

He will be assisting our clients with in-depth local market research, market analysis, strategy development, partner identification, and business development, among other activities in Ivory Coast.

Event recap: “Speak to our Africa Experts” event a success

We had invited you to our event, Speak to our Africa Experts, which happened on February 8th and 9th, 2022. In this event, you had the chance to speak to our sector experts about the opportunities and challenges for your business in Africa.

In the individual tailored meetings and virtual expert talks, 32 companies discovered the opportunities for their business in Africa. Our sector experts worked out the options, assessed the prospects of success, and clarified the most important questions. The event was a huge success, and we had interactive, value-packed sessions.

Slide of the month (SOTM) March. Tanzania medical technology value chain

Medical technology markets in Africa offer great opportunities for local and international companies. africon recently completed a multi-country analysis for one of our clients interested in the sector. One of the countries we spotlighted in our country prioritization was Tanzania. Our client was interested in getting more insights into the value chain of medical technologies in the country.

We found that two major distribution channels are used to reach end-users when distributing medical technology products. The first and the biggest one is the public channel, managed by Medical Stores Department (MSD). MSD is the authorized body responsible for procuring, storing, and distributing medical products in the country. 70% – 80% of the medical technology products pass through this avenue. The second one is the private channel which is dominated by private companies. 30% – 20% of the medical technology products go through this route.

Based on these and other findings, we shared the opportunities, route to market strategies, and practical recommendations that would guide the client in strengthening their foothold in the second-largest market (after Kenya) in the East African medical technology sector.
